Intro to DVD Copy Protection (CSS)
By DVD Copy Carl • June 2, 2008
There are a number of ways to protect your CDs and DVDS from being copied. Most of them depend on breaking conformity with the CD and DVD standards. In this article we will discuss the use of dummy files and illegal sectors, although there are other methods of protecting CD’s.
Dummy files on CD’S
For the most part CD-ROMs use an ISO9660-filesystem to arrange the existing space into files and folders. The majority of times it is used underneath a further sophisticated file system like Joliet to get round a few limitations. The most basic approach is to fake a little information inside the file system. Early production of software copied every file one at a time from the original medium and re-created a new file system on the target medium, losing the faked information, hence making a copy disk un-useable.
Illegal sectors on CDS
The top-level data structure of a CD-Rom is called a sector and it is the only one that is available to software (counting the OS). Every sector contains 2048 byte of user-data and 304 bytes of structural details (for a MODE1 CD-ROM), the sector number, signifying the sector’s absolute and relative logical location
Using the Error Detection Code(EDC) and Error Correction Code(ECC) field, the drive can spot and fix read-errors.
Deliberately crafting sectors with improper EDC/ECC fields at some stage in manufacturing provides a distinguishing feature used in copy protection methods. The protection’s software tries to read those sectors, awaiting read-errors. Since early versions of end-user software and hardware were not capable of generating sectors with illegal structural details, this characteristic could not be re-generated with such software and hardware. The disc is a copy if the sectors forming the distinguishing attribute have become readable.
With modern machines the above approaches do not give the protection needed, as current software and hardware are capable of reproducing raw sectors.
An adaptation of this approach uses large areas of unreadable sectors with tiny islands of readable ones in between. For the most part software trying to reproduce protected media will miss intervals of sectors once confronted with unreadable ones, expecting them all to be bad.
DVD Protection
DVDs can be protected with a new generation of technology, CSS (Content Scramble System) being the most effective and widely used. CSS is a relatively simple encryption technology. Every DVD is encrypted with a 40-bit key, generated for each movie. At the beginning of the disc, this key is encrypted by numerous keys representing potential keys for your DVD player. When the DVD is place in the DVD player it will scan through its internal keys, trying to match them to the 400+ keys on the disc. The exact method of how this process of protection works in detail is still confidential and protected as to avoid giving code breakers the information they need to crack it.

SFA November 14 2008 Part 6 Scriptures for America's Outreach Ministries: Live Radio/Shortwave: * One of the most effective ways this ministry is able to get needed truths spread to the covenant people is by Radio broadcast. Currently we are broadcasting over 400 hours a month on Shortwave. Also, we currently broadcast on AM stations all over the U.S. Website/Internet Church: * This website is one of the many outreach avenues we utilize here at Scriptures for America. The platform offers users the opportunity to post needed truths immediately and also affords a medium for correspondence with our family, friends, supporters, or those inquiring about the ministry. One invaluable aspect to this branch of our ministry is Internet Church. We have know that His remnant is spread abroad (much for their own protection) right now, and Internet Church affords the opportunity for us all to praise and worship together in real-time. We hope that you'll make plans to join us every Sunday beginning at 10:00am Mountain Time as we have church here. We encourage you to contact us with your suggestions and recommendations concerning how you feel this site can serve the ministry and you better. Please feel free to contact the webmaster. TAPE/CD: * The CD/TAPE ministry is a primary activity of Scriptures for America. Approximately every two weeks, two audio sermons are mailed out to each individual on the CD/TAPE ministry. To be added to this ministry, write us and ask to be added to the either the CD or TAPE ministry. Many have found this to be an effective tool for evangelism. Dragon Slayer Newsletter: * Scriptures for America publishes a newsletter approximately every month. Each issue of the newsletter has a feature article by Pastor Peter J. Peters. Most issues have one or more additional articles by other individuals, including our Acres of Diamonds men. The newsletter has schedules for the seminars, camp conferences, and new radio outreaches. The newsletter is sent out only to those who have requested to be placed on the mailing list. There is no charge for the DragonSlayer newsletter. To subscribe to the newsletter, simply write or telephone the Scriptures for America office. You can request a free sample copy in the newsletter section of our website 24/7 Audio and Video: * At this website we provide our 24/7 Internet Broadcasting Stream along with a vast library of broadcasting archives. Please feel free to visit the archives page and listen to or watch as much as you like. Also, feel free to download as many copies as you would like for your own distribution or to create/add to your our audio/visual library. DVD Church: * We offer a DVD of the complete Sunday Morning live broadcast for all of those that do not have access to the internet and would still like to join us for church services. This DVD is mailed out the Monday after the broadcast, so that all can join in and experience the singing, Communion, announcements and the sermon. If you would like to be a part of, or know someone that would benefit from, the Scriptures for America "DVD Church", contact us and let us know...This is also a great evangelistic tool. Satellite: * We broadcast 24/7 on our Satellite network. The new satellite is digital (KU band) where the old satellite was broadcasting on C band. If you have a C band system you will have to upgrade to a KU or a digital system. As I understand, the C band antenna can be converted to digital however; you would have to have a digital receiver. There are many suppliers of KU band antennas and receivers and they can be found on the internet by using your web search. We have made arrangements with a National Distributor of KU satellite equipment for some very attractive pricing. We can offer a complete KU system for 5.00 including freight. This system consists of an antenna, a digital receiver and a mounting and wiring kit. The receiving unit can be plugged into a TV that has RCA jacks and/or S-Video inputs. This is the same unit that WWCR uses to receive our signal. For more information contact us through the one the many ways offered at the contact page at this website.

I will give you a walk-through on how to use this program. It is very simple. Download DVD Decrypter http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/ Hope this helps! Basically, when you Decrypt a DVD you get rid of the copyright protection, and it saves the movie on your hard drive. This is useful in order to copy the DVD you rented. This is illegal, but it is your choice to do this.

http://allmusiclyrics.googlepages.com/stealthisfilm San Francisco, April 2007 // Categories: History, Copyright, DRM Von Lohmann chronicles the legal actions which have met new media technologies for more than a century, demonstrating that neither current conflicts, nor the extreme language, are unprecedented. He goes on to outline how the lawmaking process in the United States structurally provides incumbent industry players with an advantage. Lastly he challenges the notion that Digital Rights Management (DRM) systems will provide an antidote to the copyright owners' woes.

http://condemn129peaseny14559.blogspot.com Please Send Governor Patterson A Link To This Site & Make Sure You Tell Him That Adult Protective Services (585-753-6532); Ross Ellingwood Has Done Nothing To Resolve The Issue, nor has Bob Prince = Parma's Code Inspector: To Write To The Governor: David A. Paterson State Capitol Albany, NY 12224 518-474-8390 My 84 year old grandmother is so senile (dementia) & ill, she thinks she is better off living with her two drunken, out of their mind children than be in a nursing home where she is safe from them. Don Finnegan (59) drinks 30 beers a day, & hits the hard liquor by 10 pm daily. He has been milking disability for a 'bad back', while he cuts, splits & sells firewood for top dollar. Don is paranoid, violent & out of his mind when drunk. He has attacked me numerous times, I have had at least one order of protection against him for assault on record. The last time he tried to attack me, I pepper sprayed him, & he tried to have me arrested. Once the cops did the math, they were in the process of arresting him, when my crazy grandmother attacked the police!! This is how sick in the head these people are; but it gets worse. Don built the two wood stoves that are the only thing that has heated the house in ten years, since the furnace died. Both stoves are home made death traps; neither of which would pass a fire code inspection, nor a home owners insurance companies safety guidelines. The stove in Don's garage/office area is jerry rigged with a used motor oil burning can that drips oil into the fire. He gets drunk & plays around with it, & has almost burnt the house down 15 times. Don needs to be somewhere he can not be a danger to himself or others. Don refuses to allow a gas furnace to be put in the house unless he is the one getting paid to do it. This guy gets 00 a month to drink, smoke & pay for crack whores on our tax dollars, & he has the nerve to want more money, when he does not even pay my grandmother rent!?!?!? Emmy Finnegan (56) sucks down vodka from 11 am till she passes out; popping pain pills all the way there. She is nitpicking, abusive, fight provoking, & as delusional as Don. She has stabbed every friend she ever had in the back & lost every job in town. One could say she has worn out her welcome in Spencerport. Both of these parasitic weasels have my grandmother brainwashed into thinking that without them, she will be stuck in a nursing home (which is like Federal prison to her). The hold it over her head like a piece of steak to a staving dog. The video footage of the inside of 129 Pease Road, Spencerport, NY 14559 should be more than enough for various agencies to step in & either bring the house to an acceptable level of safety, or take my mentall ill grandmother to a place where she is safe. The 60 year old rotting asbestos ceiling tile that is on the 4th & 5th floor alone should be enough to shut the place down until it is fixed properly. I wish I knew who her home owners policy was under. Is there a way to find out who someones home is insured under? Is there a master list of home insurance companies, so I could just mail every one a letter & a DVD until I get lucky? I am up to any ideas that might help get this woman out of that death trap & into a safe place, regardless of if she thinks its in her best interest or not. Feel free to copy the DVD & pass it along to the proper channels, or by all means ask me for more copies & I will gladly mail them out.

http://www.thehammocklife.com Denver, CO -- Carbon Copy Pro, an automated marketing system developed by Jay Kubassek, has created a buzz in the internet marketing world. CCP bills itself as an almost completely hands free automated marketing system which converts sales for the Wealth Masters International business opportunity. Wealth Masters International, or WMI, sells an informational product dealing with weatlh creation and asset protection. Once prospects go through the Carbon Copy marketing system they buy the 'Inside-Out' DVD, consisting of an interview of Jay Kubassek by Mike Dillard. These prospects are then called by the CCP call center and taken to a WMI conference call. The problem with the CCP system is that there is no personal branding allowed within it. Prospects are lost due to the unsticky nature of Carbon Copy marketing. For more information on Herdrich visit http://www.grnwealthcreator.com or contact him directly at 312-636-1782

Long story short, I was noticing some delay issues when I had stuff hooked up to the DVD recorder. Obviously, this doesn't matter for the VCR, but when there's a 1/4 second delay between button presses and when you see the action, it becomes a bit of a problem in video games. Thankfully, my TV has A/V-Out, so I just hooked up my DVD recorder that way and it ends up both delay free and more convenient for me because now I can record whatever's on the TV and not just crap that's hooked up to the DVD Recorder. So anyways I just recorded this to test out sync issues and everything's fine and I just change the channel to the cable while I was watching Fresh Prince. Commercials were on, so I change the channel to Toon Disney, thinking that "Power..." meant "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" and not "Power Ranger Jungle Fever". So anyways I go to the channel before it and it's like Jumanji and Jumanji is fucking awesome but no my DVD recorder just stops right after I got to the channel. I go back to the DVD recorder and get the same goddamn copy-protection message I got with my fucking Disney tapes I tried to transfer to DVD. God dammit I didn't know they could do that through cable these days. Well at least I can record regular TV. ...Ok that wasn't very short was it?

HULU will officially launch on Wednesday, offering full-length episodes of 250 television series, 100 feature-length films and some of the top online video content. The News Corp - NBC U venture has gone all-out, adding new programming from Lionsgate, Warner Bros. TV Group, the NBA, the NHL, the Onion News Network and more. Of course, this is all added to its huge beta selection of content from Fox, NBC and more. Hulu has a lot of high-quality programming. The site will also blaze new trails in advertising by offering two unique ad formats. One will allow viewers to choose between multiple ads. The other will offer viewers a commercial-free show if they agree to watch a 2 and a half minute movie trailer. Since entering beta the site has already shown signs of being a success, growing to 5 million monthly viewers and having its content embedded in over 5,000 sites. Hulu is a major experiment and the long-awaited network reaction to YouTube. If you haven't tried Hulu during the beta period, log on to Hulu.com this Wednesday to give it a shot. LIONSGATE will begin including iPod-ready digital copies of films released on DVD and Blu-ray, starting with the May 27 release of "Rambo." Fox initially kicked off the digital-copy concept last November with the release of "Live Free or Die Hard." The number of digital copies actually activated so far has been small but the studios see the option as protection against piracy and a way to maintain DVD sales as viewers increasingly demand portable media. DISNEY expects to generate billion in revenue from online content this fiscal year according to CEO Bob Iger. That would be about 3% of company revenue, based on 2007 numbers. Disney has been very aggressive at embracing the shift to online content, selling shows and movies on iTunes, streaming TV episodes on ABC.com and even purchasing social-networking site Club Penguin. The forward-thinking approach has clearly paid off and puts Disney in a good position as more viewers shift to new media. AFTRA has reached a tentative deal with producers covering daytime serials, talk shows and game shows. The deal increases wages, provides residuals for Internet downloads and increases health care contributions. The deal must now be ratified by members. Prime-time dramas and sitcoms are covered under a separate contract that expires in June. NEWS CORP said it will not compete with Microsoft for Yahoo. NIELSEN will introduce a new series of reports that analyzes the connection between blog coverage and box office performance. SPRINT will update is Mogul phone to run on the faster EV-DO Rev. A network, giving the phone Internet access speeds formerly reserved for laptops. ENTRIQ has acquired content-management provider DAYPORT. COMCAST and TICKETMASTER have canceled their major investment in AEG Live.

Somewhere out there is a man... probably in his late 40s. He purchased a Betamax deck. Followed by a laserdisc player. Probably shelled out a small fortune on Criterion laserdiscs. He sold his kidney to buy a DVD player, and quickly replaced it when seamless branching DVDs were the rage. He purchased DVDs then anamorphic DVDs. He also replaced his HDTV when it was clear the early model HDTVs would not support the strong copy protection demanded of the new HD formats. When HD DVD was announced... he was hesitant. All the money he'd spend on video upgrades could have fed a nation of skinny people. But once in the showroom, exposed to 1080p playback... he couldn't help himself. It was HD DVD all the way. He won't be around any more. He died... of a broken heart.
